Prince Harry And Meghan’s Bold Request to The Queen- What Really Happened?

Do you know about Prince Harry and Meghan’s “inappropriate” request to the Queen after their wedding?

We know that the Sussexes received Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate as a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth II.

But they returned the keys last year as they stepped away from the royal realm in 2020. Interestingly, Frogmore Cottage wasn’t their first choice.

What exactly did they ask for, and why was it considered inappropriate? Let’s dig into the details.

The Bold Request the Queen Turned Down

Reports reveal that Prince Harry and Meghan initially hoped to live in Windsor Castle. The Sussexes requested living quarters within the historic castle. Back then, only the Queen and Prince Philip had private apartments, while other royals lived elsewhere on the estate. The Queen reportedly “politely but firmly suggested” that the couple reside in Frogmore Cottage instead of Windsor Castle.

Post Megxit, Harry and Meghan left Frogmore Cottage and moved to the US. Soon after, the couple bought a lavish £11 million home in California. Royal author Hugo Vickers discussed the whole situation with The Times. “There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments which the Sussexes may have had their eye on.”

He added, “But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there.” And guess what? Before making Frogmore Cottage their home, the duo considered several other homes in Windsor. These include Adelaide Cottage, now occupied by the Prince and Princess of Wales and their kids.

Earlier this year, rumours swirled that the US-based royals might be ready to leave their Montecito mansion. Additionally, the swanky pad boasts nine bedrooms, sixteen bathrooms, a games room, a gym, tennis courts, and a tea house. Property expert Jonathan Rolande explained why the Sussexes might sell their current home.

According to him, they might take advantage of their mansion’s reported rise in value. Meanwhile, some reports suggest that the value of their home has soared by more than £10m since they moved in. Rolande thinks that’s entirely possible. He added, “But, like here, property markets in the US can rapidly change.” So it’s about time to make the move and cash in.

Let’s not forget that the stunning property also comes with the wow factor of being once owned by Harry and Meghan. He said, “For many, this will be a huge selling point and can, itself, add to the value.” What do you think about the Sussexes’ bold movie? Drop your thoughts below.
