Princess Kate and Prince William issue personal message to Princess Anne after royal’s return

Princess Anne returned to her royal duties on July 12 after being hospitalized for injuries she sustained during a horse-related incident last month

Prince William and Kate Middleton are rallying behind Princess Anne!

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a supportive post on their Instagram Stories for the Princess Royal, 73, after she was seen stepping out for the first time after being hospitalized for a horse-related incident last month.

The pair reshared a post from the royal family’s official Instagram account, which showed Princess Anne returning to her royal duties as she visited the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

Over the photo, they wrote, “Super Trooper! So great to see you back so soon!,” they wrote before signing off with their initials, “W & C x.”

Their message appeared to be a nod to Princess Anne’s hardworking attitude as she often tops the list of the hardest-working royals, typically undertaking hundreds of royal engagements each year. However, her injuries have meant she has been unable to undertake royal duties and has missed several appearances since the June horse-riding incident.

Buckingham Palace announced on June 24 that the Princess Royal, who is a lifelong equestrian, had sustained a concussion and minor injuries in a horse-related accident at her country home the day prior, and was hospitalized as a “precautionary measure.”

The exact details of the accident are unknown, due to the concussion Princess Anne sustained. However, her injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.

A day after the incident, The Telegraph reported that the royal suffered memory loss, which was thought to be temporary, relating to the incident.

Princess Anne herself reportedly shared as she was exiting the car to attend the RDA National Championships that she “can’t remember a single thing about” what happened that led her to the hospital.

She was eventually discharged from Southmead Hospital on June 28, and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, thanked the hospital’s team for “their care, expertise and kindness” during her stay.

After she was released, she received rehabilitation support at her Gatcombe Park home in Gloucestershire until her medical team determined it was safe for her to return to her royal duties, PEOPLE confirmed.

As for Prince William, 42, he has also been continuing his royal duties, and was most recently spotted Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup 2024 at Guards Polo Club in Windsor, which raises funds for various charities and causes supported by him and his wife.

He will also attend the U.E.F.A. European Championship final between England and Spain in Germany on Sunday, July 14.

While the Princess of Wales, 42, was notably missing from the polo event, as she has stepped out of the spotlight in recent months after announcing in March that she is undergoing treatment for cancer, she attended King Charles’ birthday parade on June 15, marking her first public outing with the royals since Christmas.

Kensington Palace has also confirmed that she will attend the men’s singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday, July 14.
