The Princess Royal is back at work just weeks after suffering a concussion in a horse riding accident but sources suggest the hard-working 73-year-old was warned to rest up for the summer
Insiders have now suggested that is against doctor’s orders. According to the Daily Mail, Anne was advised to rest up over the summer months because the effects of a head injury are not always noticeable straight away.
She returned to royal duties on July 12 when she visited the Riding for the Disabled Association National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.
Her accident took place on June 23.
On her return, the Prince and Princess of Wales sent a message in their official X account saying: “Super trooper! So great to see you back so soon!”
Insiders have speculated that Anne may not have liked the message because it suggests she has rushed back to official duties when she is actually mean to be resting.
However, their enthusiasm could stem from the fact she can share the burden of investitures with William, with King Charles having to take a step back due to his cancer treatment.
After leaving Southmead Hospital in Bristol, Anne spent time recovering at her Gatcombe Park home in Gloucestershire.
Her medical team said her head injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs but her concussion has meant precise details of how the incident came about are not clear.
We previously reported that she is known to be a terrible patient with only her children, Zara Tindall and Peter Philips. able to persuade her to listen to medics.
