Princess Kate returns to work with first royal engagement since finishing chemotherapy

Kate, the Princess of Wales, took to Windsor Castle today for her first meeting since revealing her chemotherapy had ended and she was slowly returning to work

The Princess of Wales has returned to work and has resumed Royal engagements at Windsor Castle following the conclusion of her chemotherapy treatment. Kate, 42, disclosed just last week that she had wrapped up her treatment regime and was gearing up for a gradual return to her Royal duties.

In a heartfelt video featuring herself, Prince William, and their children, the princess – who received a cancer diagnosis in February – expressed keenness to get back on duty but noted, “My path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

Marking an important step in her journey, an official Court Circular documented for today that “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle.”

Kensington Palace has confirmed that this engagement is the first record of Princess Kate’s professional activity since her January hospitalisation for abdominal surgery, which led to a two-week stay before recuperating at home. Following this initial health scare, Kate received a further diagnosis of cancer weeks later and embarked on a preventative chemotherapy course.

The princess received widespread admiration for her public statement last week, where she candidly detailed her “complex, scary and unpredictable” journey with cancer, reports the Mirror.

Kate also shared her thoughts on the ordeal, stating: “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

Kate has spoken about how her husband, Prince William, has been a pillar of support for her. She said they have taken time to “reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

She added: “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus.”

In a video message, Kate expressed her eagerness to return to work and undertake more public engagements in the coming months. “I am looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months,” she said. This was after a report was published by the business taskforce she helped establish, urging companies to prioritise early childhood.

Royal aides revealed that the Princess was “excited” by these developments.

The taskforce found that the UK could gain approximately £45.5billion in economic benefits if businesses implemented plans to prioritise childhood by providing parents with more resources and flexibility at work. Courtiers mentioned that Kate was “kept informed” on these developments.

Kate’s early years meeting included members from her Kensington Palace communications department and representatives from her early years team.

Royal insiders have stated that the Princess will gradually return to Royal duties by working from home and attending some engagements. She is expected to join other members of the Royal Family at the Cenotaph in November for Remembrance Sunday.

The Princess of Wales was last noted in the Court Circular for her attendance at Wimbledon in July, where she watched the men’s final with her nine-year-old daughter Charlotte and sister Pippa.

In other Royal news, Prince William carried out an engagement on Tuesday, visiting the 22 Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) to meet individuals recently deployed on operations.

Kensington Palace has not provided any additional comments.
